Anti-prothrombin antibodies are part of the anti-phospholipid antibody family. The anti-prothrombin antibodies would cause a transient deficit in prothrombin by binding to the prothrombin and by accelerating the elimination of the antigen-antibody complexes thus formed. About 20-30% of lupus have anti-prothrombin IgGs.
