Pefaclot® UFH
| 8-505-50 | Kit |
Pefaclot® UFH is a plasma based functional assay for the determination of Factor Xa and Factor IIa inhibitors.
Description of the Pefaclot® UFH
Pefaclot UFH is a powerful and economic kit to monitor unfractionated heparin (UFH) in patient plasma samples.
- Shorter turnaround time
- Reduced number of venipunctures
- Shorter time for lab technicians
- Reduced bleeding risk for patients
- Cost savings for hospital labs
Kit Conents
- 3 x R1 Activator
- 3 x R2 Start Reagent
Principle of Assay
Pefaclot UFH relies on the activation of plasma directly at the level of the prothrombinase complex resulting in a fine-tuned analytical output directly proportional to antithrombotic drug content. RVV-V (a specific activator from Daboia russelli venom) activates FV. In the presence of added phospholipids (mimicking platelet membranes or other negatively charged surfaces) defined quantities of FXa and calcium are added and the prothrombinase complex rapidly formed. Due to the preactivation of FV by RVV-V, the prothrombinase complex formation becomes solely dependent on the activity of FXa and Thrombin in the sample. This mechanism is based on the PiCT technology.
