Convulxin

Product derived from the venom of Crotalus durissus terrificus in frozen form.
MW(Da) : 84 000 Convulxin, a heterodimeric C-type lectin isolated from Crotalus durissus terrificus venom, activates mammalian platelets via binding and clustering of p62/GPVI-receptors under physiological conditions. Occupation and clustering of p62/GPVI may activate Src family kinases phosphorylating Fc receptor Ɣ-chain and activate p72syk that is critical for downstream activation of platelets. Convulxin may be used in studies on platelet receptors.
